NCAA March Madness 2026

Hoop fans! The best part about this entire month of March is finally present! For those who are unaware, March Madness is a national collegiate basketball tournament for men and women at the Division-1 level. There are 64 teams initially in the first round who qualify to play in the tournament. Qualifications are usually based on conference record and whether or not enough quality teams were beaten during the regular season. Typically, the winners of the conference tournaments qualify automatically, but other factors such as Win-Loss record and point differential matter when seeding each team.

The tournament began yesterday, Thursday 3/19. From the first day of hoops we have witnessed so much so far. Beginning with notable upsets, as this is what most people pay attention to in the first two rounds. An "upset" is defined by a lower seeded team defeating a higher seeded team. Usually, higher seeds are much better and have more tournament experience. However, there are teams who are true underdogs who come to play and leave it all out on the court. Some notable small colleges (lower seeded) we have seen make a run in the tournament could include Loyola University of Chicago and Florida Gulf Coast University. Some unexpected upsets we've seen yesterday are High Point University beating Wisconsin and VCU beating North Carolina.

The unpredictability of the tournament is what keeps everyone engaged so much. You think you know a team is going to win until they don't and your bracket is busted. Make sure you guys tune today for the 2nd wave of the first round games. There are some anticipated games on the docket. Also, I would like to hear who you guys think will make the final four. For reference, my final four picks are Duke, Michigan St, Arizona, & Michigan.
